Large swells have pushed rocks, tree logs and sea debris across a road near the capital’s airport forcing the Wellington City Council to close it.
In a tweet, Wellington City Council said Moa Point Rd on the Lyall Bay side to Stewart Duff Drive is closed due to “large boulders”.
It comes after MetService issued a heavy swell warning from 12pm Wednesday to 9pm Wednesday, warning waves could reach up 6 metres.
In a video provided to Newshub by the council, large waves can be seen crashing against the seawall, as council contractors work to clear the debris.
