Former New Zealand TV star Phillip Schofield has renounced his brother Timothy after he was found guilty of 11 sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019.

Timothy Schofield, 54, was convicted on all counts by a UK jury with a majority of 10-2 after more than five-and-a-half hours of deliberation.

Jurors had heard previously in the case that Timothy had told his elder brother in September 2021 that he and the complainant had watched pornography together. He said it happened when the boy was 16, the age of consent in the UK.

Following the conviction, the 61-year-old This Morning TV host released a statement condemning his brother’s actions and offering his sympathies to the victim.

“My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected,” he said.

“If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family. These are despicable crimes, and I welcome the guilty verdicts. As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother.”

Timothy Schofield will be sentenced on May 19 in the UK.
