A man has died in hospital after a crash in Auckland on Good Friday, bringing the Easter weekend road toll to one.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the Southern Motorway (State Highway 1) at Manurewa just after 2pm on Friday.
The 68-year-old victim appeared to have clipped a car as he swerved to avoid a crash and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police said he died in the hospital on Monday.
Easter’s official road toll began at 4pm on Thursday and ended at 6am on Tuesday. Last year, there were four deaths on the roads during the Easter period.
