A “big explosion” has been heard in west Auckland as police search a property.
A large police presence, with some officers armed, has been in the area 6:30am as officers carried out what they called a “pre-planned search warrant” at a property on Red Hills Rd in Massey.
“The address is contained and Police enquires continue,” police said.
“We won’t be able to comment further while this is ongoing.”
A Red Hills Rd resident told Stuff he heard a “big explosion” at about 10.45am.
“I’m still shaking, my wife is still shaking,” he said.
Another resident told NZ Herald there is a large police presence in the area.
“More police were arriving, they were just setting up at that time. It doesn’t shock me anymore, this has happened in the same area recently.”
The search warrant in Massey comes a month after police carried out an operation for a wanted person on the same street.
