‘Frustrating’: Royal vents over seating at King Charles’ coronation

Mike Tindall, former England rugby player and husband to the King’s niece Zara, has lashed out at his seating position for the recent coronation, saying it was “frustrating”.

Tindall attended the event on Saturday May 6 (UK time) and revealed via his podcast he found his view of the historic occasion “frustrating”.

Speaking to his co-host James Haskell on The Good, The Bad and The Rugby, Tindall said he couldn’t see major parts of the event, despite being fairly close to the front.

“You’re in the hottest spot, but it’s happening all around the corner where you can’t see,” he said.

“You do have a front-row seat – it was unbelievable being sat there, but frustrating.”

For the two hour event, the Tindalls were sat directly behind Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie, Jack Brooksbank, Princess Beatrice, the Duke of York and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

He also said the majority of the ceremony took place out of their eyeline due to the structure of Westminster Abbey.

Flat screen televisions had been put in place during the coronation for many of the 2300 guests to view proceedings.

It’s not the first time Tindall has been vocal about the monarchy and has gone his own way.

In October 2022, it was reported he did not seek  permission from King Charles III to appear on the next season of UK TV reality show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

The Sunday Times reported the former England rugby captain didn’t ask Buckingham Palace to be part of the show, which sees celebrities dumped in a jungle and left to survive as well as partaking in activities like eating bugs to win food for their team.

He was the eighth person to be eliminated.
