A person has died after crashing into a tree on Monday night in Waikato.
Police said the single-vehicle crash happened on River Rd, in Horsham Downs just out of Hamilton, at 11:40pm.
A police statement said a car crashed into a tree and the occupant died at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours overnight but reopened at 4:45am on Tuesday morning.
The serious crash unit attended the accident and inquires into the circumstances of the crash are underway, police said.
