All Black Jordan available for selection to play Springboks at Mt Smart Stadium

Will Jordan.

All Blacks outside back Will Jordan is available for selection to play South Africa at Go Media Stadium Mt Smart on Saturday.

Jordan, 25, missed the Rugby Championship opener against Argentina as a precautionary measure to manage a migraine-related vestibular condition.

The same condition ended his 2022 season early, keeping him out of the All Blacks’ northern tour, and sidelined him for the opening rounds of this season’s Super Rugby Pacific campaign.

His return is a welcome selection headache for All Blacks coach Ian Foster and his staff, with winger Mark Telea also recovering from an injury.

Telea is expected to contend for the No.14 jersey, after Emoni Narawa’s encouraging debut performance against the Pumas.

All Blacks assistant coach Jason Ryan also confirms Leicester Fainga’anuku is a 50/50 chance to play, while veteran lock Sam Whitelock is “tracking well”.

Despite the welcomed returns, the NZ team have been hit by another concerning injury, with prop Fletcher Newell – who was returning from a foot injury – breaking his hand in training.

Ryan is pleased with the depth the team are building, with the World Cup just two months away, and expects Jordan, Telea or anyone they select to fire.

“They’ve both been playing great Super Rugby and obviously it’s their chance, they’re selectable for this week,” he said.

“What we also saw in Argentina is that a few other guys stood up right across the park and that’s exactly what we wanted – to build some depth and to build confidence for anyone that gets their opportunity in the black jersey, and no-one gets comfortable.”

The All Blacks will name their team to play the Springboks on Thursday.
