Customer attacks female security guard at Auckland workplace

A man has been arrested after a female security guard was repeatedly attacked at her workplace in west Auckland on Tuesday morning.

Police officers rushed to a workplace on Sel Peacock Dr in Henderson just after 9am following a report of the woman being assaulted.

Snr Sgt Ryan Lilleby said it appears a “disgruntled” client approached the security guard and repeatedly assaulted her.

The security guard was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

“A police patrol unit in the area responded to the job within minutes and arrested the man just down the road from the scene,” Lilleby said.

The workplace was initially put into lockdown following the attack but has since reopened.

Lilleby called the attack “concerning”, adding police wanted to “reassure the community that we take this kind of offending seriously.

“We hope this quick arrest demonstrates our commitment to hold those responsible for this type of brazen behaviour to account.”
