A Westpac Rescue Helicopter has crashed into a bush near Mount Pirongia in the Waikato region of Te Awamutu.
A Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesperson told Newshub the helicopter was involved in an incident, they wouldn’t confirm if any patients were onboard but there would have been a pilot and a paramedic.
According to St John, the helicopter went to retrieve a patient when the propellor got caught up and went down just after 5pm.
The patient they went to collect has moderate injuries, however, the injury status of the helicopter crew is unconfirmed.
A Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been dispatched from Auckland to collect the patient.
