Kia ora, good afternoon and welcome to Newshub’s live coverage of the WXV 1 game between the Black Ferns and Wales at Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium.

After last week’s defeat to France at Wellington, the reigning world champions will be seeking a bounceback performance against the only northern hemisphere to fall against southern opposition in the opening round.

Wales lost 42-22 to Canada and offer an excellent chance for the NZ women to get their campaign back on track against opponents they defeated twice on their way to the World Cup crown last year.

The Ferns actually dominated their contest against the French, but shot themselves in the foot with 15 handling errors that undid much of the pressure they built in the opposition 22.

They probably only need small adjustments to return to winning ways, before their much-awaited World Cup final rematch against England next week.

Join us at 4pm Saturday for kickoff.
